December Events Around Wrightsville Beach

As December sweeps through the Cape Fear Coast, we've been especially fortunate with some surprisingly nice weather! Warmer temps have made it easier to get out and enjoy all of the holiday happenings. Here are a few you don't want to miss:

The Cookie Walk - Saturday, December 12th-Wrightsville Beach Methodist Church. Make plans to attend this drool-worthy event that benefits the worthwhile church missions program. Even though this extreme bake sale will feature literally thousands of cookies, candies and maybe even some sugar plums-plan on arriving early for access to the best selection of amazing goodies! This is also a great stop to pick up a few thoughtful gifts for those on your holiday shopping list. You could stock up, fill your own tins and keep it on the down-low! Someone's got to be naughty, right? The hours are from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm and the address is 4 Live Oak Drive/Wrightsville Beach.

Hark the Herald Angels Swing VII: A Christmas Cabaret - Saturday December 19th and Sunday brunch on the 20th-The Blockade Runner Beach Resort/275 Waynick Boulvard. If you are looking for a "wow factor" gift for a special someone or the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion, this is it! The renowned Opera House Theater Company will be at the helm for a fun-filled evening that includes cocktails, dinner and a show. Enchanted Airlie -Y es! There are still a few dates available for this spectacular evening of unique entertainment. Celebrating its 10th year, each evening brings a different line-up of activities for kids of all ages, plus local musical talent. This year is the most magical yet, with over 750,000 festive lights, holiday refreshments and regular visits from Santa-and…you only have until December 22nd to experience the wonder that is Enchanted Airlie! Before your visit, the coordinators have a few suggestion of how to make the best use of your time while taking in all of the amazing sights and sounds:

  • Don't wait to get your tickets because as the final night approaches, they're going faster that Santa's reindeer on Christmas Eve!
  • Increase your chances of securing tickets and avoiding the crowds by choosing a Thursday night and there are not many left! There are also some upcoming dates for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Also, please note that each night, you must select a scheduled date and choose between the 5-7pm and 7-9pm time slots. All guests must leave by the time designated on their tickets.
  • If the night you want is sold out and you're coming from out of town, why not plan a holiday getaway at one of our area hotels or beach rentals? The Blockade Runner Beach Resort is offering a special Enchanted Airlie package that includes tickets and a free shuttle ride.
  • Families with small children will want to visit the North Pole to see Santa first so they have not over done it by the time they get in line.
  • To avoid losing any members of your party, stay together. Airlie Gardens covers many acres and although it is beautifully illuminated, it is a nighttime activity and best to exercise a little caution.
  • Parents of special needs kids can make a reservation for "A Quiet Visit with Santa" by calling 910-319-7744.
