Wrightsville Beach Parks and Rec Programs for the Winter

Winter may be the off-season for Wrightsville Beach, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to do! Once the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, the crowds at Wrightsville Beach thin out and locals enjoy many off-season activities. If you're not from the area but would like to visit, consider coming to town between the months of November - February to get a feel for how the locals live in the off-season and enjoy some unique winter beach festivities!

Here's a look at a few year-round programs, courtesy of the Wrightsville Beach Parks and Recreation Department:

Extreme Cross Training - Don't spend the winter months hibernating! Stay in shape by staying active through this challenging but fun fitness class. This program will help you improve strength and endurance both aerobically and anaerobically with a wide variety of training techniques. Classes meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-10 a.m.

Zumba - What began as a Latin-inspired dance fitness routine has effectively grown into a wildly popular workout for ladies (and gentlemen, too) from around the world. Come see what Zumba is all about Tuesday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Tennis Lessons - Want to learn to play tennis? Or perhaps improve your technique? The town of Wrightsville Beach offers tennis lessons for adults, youth ages 9-12, and ages 6-8. Group lessons meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. If you're a WB resident, pay only $55 for six one-hour lessons. The fee is $70 for non-residents.

Kids Cooking Class - Does your child enjoy being your "helper" in the kitchen? Encourage those culinary curiosities by enrolling your young one in this fun, hands-on cooking class for kids. from 4:30-6:00 p.m. on Mondays with the upcoming session full of holiday recipes: November 19-December 17, 2012.  Pre-registration is required - see below for contact information.
